Restorative dentistry

Restorative dentistry are all measures focused on rehabilitation of the tooth to functional and aesthetic requirements, without replacing it with an artificial tooth. These measures can be divided into different specialities.

Dental restoration therapy: There are several possibilities to fill the famous "hole in the tooth": either with composite or with inlays made in a dental laboratory. The inlays can be made of gold or tooth-coloured ceramic. Such fillings last much longer than those made of cement - or amalgam.

Endodontics (root canal therapy): Deep tooth decay may result in tooth nerve infection. In this case root canal treatment is needed. This means that the inflamed nerves of the tooth will be completely removed. After the healing phase is over ,the inside of the root canals is cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. By removal of the damaged nerves, the toot will be deprived from essential nutrients. As a result the tooth becomes porous and fragile. That is why we recommend a crown to protect the affected tooth in about three to six months after the root canal treatment has been completed.
